Ethical Clothing 
Ethical clothing is for people, like you, who are ahead of the moral game. Modern society is becoming more and more environmentally conscious and developing an ethical, global conscience.
At Actifwear, we are also trying to do our bit for the environment and build a fairer trading relationship with those who need our help. Therefore, we are proud to be working closely with ‘Ethical Threads’, who manufacture 100% Pure Organic cotton garments that are traded fairly under (International Organisation Compliant) conditions.
It is a mutually beneficial relationship (the aim of fair trade organisations around the world) where Actifwear provide a screen printing and custom embroidery service to ‘Ethical Threads’. 'Ethical Threads' supply us with their fairly traded, environmentally friendly ethical garments.
Currently we offer ‘Ethical’ T-shirts (in the colours below), printed or embroidered with your required logos and, if required, personalised with individual names.
Common Questions
1. Does Ethical / Organic Clothing have to cost the earth?
No - many of our clients are wanting to buy more ethically. They wish to consider the environment in their purchasing decisions but can't afford to spend ridiculous money to do it.
2. Can Organic and Ethical Clothing be economically practical for a small or medium sized order?
Yes - but it will generally cost a little more. If you are shopping for the cheapest workwear, teamwear or businesswear then you won't find it possible to buy organic ethical clothing today.
One day we hope it will become the norm across the world. But today, there are additional costs imposed by meeting the internationally agreed standards and providing the initial suppliers with a fair return for their efforts.
We, and our suppliers, work hard to keep the costs down - but you must expect to pay a little more.
3. What is the difference between Ethical and Organic clothing?
Ethical Clothing
There are many definitions of 'ethical clothing'. But at Actifwear our approach is that the cloth and clothing has been produced from materials and labour which has been fairly paid for and that the supplying companies take account of workers' rights, social justice & environmental issues. For us to define an article as ethical clothing our supplier must have operated within the core International Labour Organization conventions.
Organic Clothing
Organic clothing, like organic food, must be made from raw materials which have been grown without application of man made fertilisers and pesticides.
4. Why don't you sell only 100% ethical and organic clothing?
Unfortunately, much of the UK marketplace isn't yet ready for the slight additional costs which using ethically produced and organic clothing incur. Some people, like you, are seriously looking to contribute to a fairer, cleaner and safer world - but many have yet to recognise the moral and environmental benefits.
As the opportunity grows, supplies become more readily available and buyers across the UK of workwear, teamwear and businesswear become more uniformly willing to participate in the market place we will move our catalogue over to 100% ethical and organic clothing.
5. Where do you buy the ethical and organic clothes you print or embroider?
We have recently started working with 'Ethical Threads' to supply the garments. Currently, with Ethical Threads, we offer ‘Ethical’ T-shirts printed or embroidered with your required logos and, if required, personalised with individual names.
